@ZeroOne Thanks for your comments, Michael! Abandonware is bound to happen. You can’t reasonably expect everyone to maintain all of their hobby projects forever. I suspect you, too, have a repository or two with no commits in years?
(To be explicit, I’m calling here anything that you put to GitHub “OSS”.)
I believe most of this OSS is made to respond to some particular need of the author, often bound to time. Once that need is fulfilled, there’s no need to maintain the project. Also, maybe that note-taking app just got good enough that it doesn’t need any active maintenance?
I don’t want to use abandonware either, but I don’t have to. The discoverability of these hobby projects is often bad, so they don’t matter too much even as noise.
